It.Is.Finished.

I made it!! I got it done just in time and I have to say I am pretty happy with my little project!

Here is my final board!

and some close ups of my floor plan and elevations..
(which were all hand drafted)

TADA!!!!

What do you think?!

Through this design I will be adding on to my kitchen and will eventually end up with a complete house at the end of the semester!

I have designed a house from the ground up before but I never got to take it step by step which is what I am really enjoying with this project!

Now I am finally off to the wonderful place called heaven (aka my bed) to make up for the eight + hours I missed last night!

If I Were a Cottage Kitchen I'd Be...

Howdy Ya'll!

To get straight to the point today...

I have NO clue what to write about today!!

I don't really have any inspirational things going on in my head or some crazy awesome thing going on in my life to share.

Today all that is on my mind is my Studio One project that is due by Thursday.

I would say I am pretty far a long but at the same time I have a lot to do.
(anyone get what I am saying?!)

For this project I am designing a kitchen for a couple in their early 50's. They are wanting to downsize to a smaller home into the city. They at one point were interested in buying a log cabin but for some reason that didn't work out. They also really enjoy Michigan styled summer cottages. They also enjoy nature and are big on recycling.
(and now you get the pic of what/who I am designing for)

The moment I got this project handed to me my mind started going and I instantly relied on Pinterest for some inspiration!

Today I am goin to share with you some of the pins that have inspired me for this project and what I am building some of my design off of...

When I think of cottage I think of wood, eclectic, vintage, open, airy, greens, light blues, whites, and grays.

I already have my actually floor plan planned and done so now I just have elevations and my sample board left!

I will for sure be posting pictures!! :)

Have a very happy tuesday!

This.Is.My.Life.

and I really don't mind it one bit!

I have to admit I am one of those nerds that loves school!

I enjoy going to class, being on campus, meeting new people and becoming close friends with the people you have classes with everyday. I love the challenge and the amount of knowledge I gain but never thought I could. I love the feeling of A(cing) my projects and tests and the gratification of a finished design and project. I love getting my hands covered in lead from drafting and making my ideas come to life. I love the smell of the textiles library and and the sound of pencils drawing and mouses clicking. I love using all 40 hours limit on pandora during finals week. and I love being pushed out of my box and being inspired to be in a constant creative state of mind

Okay so you get the point now. I really like school.

I mean sure I don't enjoy having tons of homework all the time and being a stressed mess. Staying up all night and rushing to get assignments in minutes before their due are not very awesome things either.  Having swollen feet and an aching back from my 100 pound backpack and trucking miles a day isn't the greatest thing.

Last night all I could see were all these negatives but then I realized there are a lot more things that I love about school than the number of things I hate.

This is my life right now and I am loving it!
(and I am loving all the other great things that comes along with being a college kid besides school of course!)
---------------------------
Sometimes its so easy to get caught up in the negatives of everything but with every "hate" I believe there are 1,000 loves. Sometimes those loves are so hard to see for some reason. Its like we see the bad things as the moon and that its the biggest thing ever even though there are millions of stars (aka the great things)! At the end of the day this is your life so why not love try your best to focus on the good things going for ya?! See the stars!!

What is your life right now and why are you loving it?!

This is my "challenge" for you today. Think about it. Let it sink in deep.

Backpacks, Books, and Orange Oh My!

Hello Beautifuls!

I hope you are all having a spectacular day!!

I am super excited for this post today because I have been filing away situations and things in my brain for a while now for this one.

Its Awkward and Awesome: School edition!!
woot woot!

How fun right?! haha I am sure I bring back memories for some of ya'll and I really hope I at least bring a few smiles!

Awkward

1. Not knowing where anything is on campus. I cant tell you how many times I have had to pull up my OK State app to look up buildings and how to get there. I actually didn't even know where the library was or what it was called so I had to ask my mom! gah I felt like a loser! haha Luckily I now have figured out the where the main places on campus are.

2. How sweaty I get walking class to class. This may be a TMI moment but oh well! Yesterday was 109 and I was the genius that wore a gray tank top! It was frankly embarrassing and I didn't even want to take my backpack off to show how drenched my body was! eww

3. The way some people dress! I need to  become that person that always has my camera ready because I am pretty sure I could do a whole post on this subject! I don't mean it in a mean way at all and I know everyone has there own since of style and all that glitter and rainbows but let me explain...
a. Jeans and trench coats on a 109 degree day
b. guys wearing jean short shorts. I know its hot out and I feel kinda bad for the guys who wear the appropriate guy length shorts but when I say jean short shorts I'm talking booty shorts!
c. well I still cant get over the guy in booty shorts so I think you get the picture now.

4. Being in the wrong class. This luckily has never happened to me but I have witnessed kids that it has happened to and I feel bad for them. It would be so embarrassing to hear the professor announce the class and then realize not only are you in the wrong place but your now late to the class you actually need to be in. Then on top of that you have to walk out in the silence of everyone staring.

5. Almost being killed by a girl riding her bicycle. So apparently bike riders do not move for people walking on the sidewalk and I didn't realize this until today. I was just minding my business walking to class and all the sudden I see a girl riding her bike and headed right toward me. The sidewalk is super crowded so I cant move over and she actually has the opportunity to move onto the street before she reaches me and so i keep on a walkin. Then the girl starts screaming and yelling at me to move out of the way! I was so shocked I didn't process everything going on and then when I finally did she was inches away from me and I barley jumped out of the way in time. So the point of this awkward number 5 is that I was almost sidewalk kill.

6. The kid sleeping in the chair next to me as I type this in the Library

Awesome

1. How much orange everyone wears! Seriously It is so awesome how everyone wears their Oklahoma State stuff! It not just for a spirt day or anything like that I am talking about any day and anytime!

2. I have successful made it to all my classes at least 10 minutes before they start! I sometimes have to walk from one building to the next building way down the road and I was a little worried I would have trouble making it to class on time. It has not been an ounce of a problem yet though and I am hoping it stays that way!

3. I have made several new friends and I am loving that! I have classes with a lot of the same people due to the fact that my major is smaller and specialized. Also I made a friend during lunch one day just because I ended up sitting by her and then another I met by walking by her to class. Everyone seems fairly friendly on campus and it has been so nice meeting and getting to know new people!

4. I am getting a lot of exercise in simply by walking to my classes! I swear I at least walk 5 miles a day!

5. Tomorrow is Friday!! Friday means I only have one class!

6. All the free stuff on campus this week! I have successful had lunch two days this week by getting free pizza and today I had a refreshing Popsicle. Also a lot of companies have come out through out the week handing out coupons and having entries for free stuff!

7. That I am loving being on my own and living my college kid life!

That's all folks! The awkward and awesome of being a college kid!

Have you ever had these awkwards and awesomes happen to you??
If so you should share them with me and ones that I didn't mention too!

I'm Still Alive!

Thank you everyone for your sweet wishes, encouragement and comments for my first day of school!

I am loving my classes and campus so much already but it is definitely official that school is in session!
I am sorry I didn't post this morning! I literately have class today from 8:30am - 10:30pm with only two hour breaks the whole day!
(so feel so loved that I am using one of my breaks to post right now! (; )
*note to self start writing Tuesday's posts the night before*

The first days of the semester are about to be over and now its time to be thrown into hours of homework.
yay! (sarcasm)

I have already met a few new "friends" and I think I am going to like most of my professors!

So basically I just wanted to share with you that I think this semester is going to be great and a bunch of other things like...

Awesome, super busy, fun, stressful, challenging, productive, entertaining, and filled with many cups of coffee!

Be more than sure I will be posting about all of the things that contribute to the adjectives above describing my semester!

I am so excited to be right where I am and I love that I can share and save my life and the events that it holds here on this little blog! and what makes it even better is all of you is who I am sharing my stories with!

I hope you all had a very happy Tuesday and do not fret because I will be back to posting in the morning tomorrow! :) It is one of my favorite days of the week so ya know I wont be missing it!!

Peace. Love. & Orange

It's My...

Boy oh boy!! I cant believe I am starting my first day of my Junior year of college! Topping it off by with it being my first day at Oklahoma State University!

I feel like I have waited forever for today to come, knowing more than a year ago that I wanted to be attending this university. I am missing all my TCC friends a whole bunch but I have already made a few new friends that I think may be some keepers!

Being an Interior Design major taking classes with fellow design and fashion majors you can imagine that the first day of school is usually a major fashion show! I honestly do usually dress a little nicer than normal for the first day of school but when I woke up this morning it was raining pups and kittens!! So I decided I would take my self out of the fall 2011 show and dress comfortable and in rain weather attire.

I ended up walking out the door with rolled up boyfriend jeans, sandals (not the smartest decision...I should have pulled out the rain boots), a v-neck t-shirt and a light hoodie.
(should of taken a picture! opps!)

Anywho I hope all of you cuties had a wonderful weekend and that your Monday is the best Monday you've ever had! Good luck to all the students, teachers, moms and dads entering the school year! :)
